Visa Medical in Abu Dhabi 2026: SEHA Visa Medical Centres (Al Shahama, Mussafah and More), Booking, What the Test Includes, Results, Family Members and Standard vs VIP Fees
The visa medical in Abu Dhabi — officially the visa screening — is done at a SEHA Disease Prevention and Screening Centre or another centre approved by the Department of Health (DOH). Every resident 18 and over needs it for a new residence visa and for every renewal; children under 18 do not. A standard test costs AED 250, you book it on the SEHA Visa Screening app, and the result usually arrives by SMS within 48 hours. This guide covers where to go (Al Shahama, Mussafah, Abu Dhabi city, the malls and Al Ain), booking, what the test includes, results, family members and children, and when a fast-track or VIP test is worth it.

🏥 Where is the visa medical center in Abu Dhabi?
SEHA runs a network of Disease Prevention and Screening Centres (DPSC) across the emirate, and a few private centres are approved by DOH for the same test. Any of them works for any Abu Dhabi visa — pick the one closest to you:
| Centre | Area | Usual timings |
|---|---|---|
| SEHA DPSC Abu Dhabi | Abu Dhabi city | Mon–Fri 7am–7pm, Sun 8am–5pm |
| SEHA DPSC Al Shahama | Al Shahama (north, towards Dubai road) | Mon–Fri 7am–4pm |
| SEHA DPSC Mussafah | Mussafah industrial area | Mon–Fri 7am–4pm |

| SEHA Al Wahda Mall · Mushrif Mall | City centre malls | Daily 9am–7pm |
| SEHA The Galleria Al Maryah Island | Al Maryah Island | Daily 10am–10pm |
| SEHA Baniyas · Etihad | Baniyas; Etihad staff centre | Mon–Fri 7am–4pm |

| Reem Hospital | Al Reem Island | 8am–5pm |
Timings as published in 2025–2026; last applications are usually taken 30 minutes before closing, and Ramadan hours differ. Check the SEHA app before you go.
Which centre do you recommend: Al Shahama or Mussafah?
The one nearest to where you live or work, at the earliest opening time. Al Shahama suits families in the north of Abu Dhabi and people coming from the Dubai side; Mussafah suits Mussafah, Khalifa City and Mohammed Bin Zayed City. For evenings or weekends, the mall centres (Al Wahda, Mushrif, The Galleria) are the easiest. Our visa medical and Emirates ID locations page shows them on a map.
Is there a visa medical near me in Abu Dhabi on Saturday?
Most SEHA centres close on Saturday. The mall centres (Al Wahda Mall, Mushrif Mall, The Galleria) and SEHA Al Ain open at weekends — the easiest choice if you work during the week.
📅 Do I need an appointment for the SEHA visa medical?
Recommended, not always required. Many centres accept walk-ins, but appointment holders are served first and the wait is much shorter. Book on the SEHA Visa Screening app (iOS and Android):
📂 What documents do I need for the visa medical in Abu Dhabi?
🧪 What does the Abu Dhabi visa medical test include?

Registration, a blood sample and a chest X-ray. Abu Dhabi screens every adult for HIV and tuberculosis — and unlike Dubai, Abu Dhabi uses a chest X-ray for every applicant. Some job categories have extra checks:
| Applicant | Tests |
|---|---|
| Wife, husband, adult son or daughter, parents | Blood test (HIV) and chest X-ray (TB) |
| Maids, nannies, private drivers | Also hepatitis B and other checks; pregnancy test for women |
| Barbers, beauticians, food handlers, nursery staff | Also hepatitis B, sometimes vaccination |
Is the visa medical painful or long?
No. It is one small blood sample and an X-ray that takes seconds. With an appointment, most people are in and out in 30–60 minutes. A pregnant woman should tell the staff before the X-ray.
📱 How long do Abu Dhabi visa medical results take, and how do I check them?
Up to 48 hours for a standard test, often less — SEHA sends an SMS when the result is ready. Check the status on TAMM (tamm.abudhabi), service Visa screening result: enter the application number from the SMS and your UID number from the visa page. The result goes to ICP electronically, so a fit result moves the visa on by itself. Our visa medical result check guide covers every emirate.
What if there is no SMS after 48 hours?
Check TAMM first. If the status is still pending, call SEHA on 80050 with the application number. Often a sample needs to be repeated, or the mobile number on the form was wrong.
What happens if the result is unfit?
The residence visa is not issued or renewed for that person. At renewal, some conditions such as treatable tuberculosis can lead to a conditional certificate and treatment instead. Act quickly: the entry permit or grace period keeps running, and an overstay costs AED 50 a day. Message us the same day.
💰 How much is the visa medical in Abu Dhabi, and is VIP worth it?
AED 250 for a standard test for a normal adult applicant, new or renewal. Faster packages cost more and are offered at selected centres only; the tests themselves are identical.

| Package | Fee | Usual result time |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | AED 250 | Up to 48 hours |
| Fast track | AED 350 | Quicker — often within 24 hours |
| Premium / VIP | AED 500 | Within 24 hours; same day at some centres if tested in the morning |
| Female domestic worker — new visa | AED 350 | Standard timing |
| Male domestic worker, barber, food handler — new visa | AED 300 | Standard timing |
| Pregnancy test (domestic workers) | AED 50 extra | — |
Fees as published by SEHA and the screening centres on 15 October 2026; the amount shown in the SEHA app or at the centre when you pay is the final reference.
When is a VIP visa medical worth it?
When the entry permit or grace period is close to ending, when travel is booked, or when you want a quiet waiting room. For a normal family renewal with weeks to spare, the standard test is enough.
👨👩👧 Do family members and children need the visa medical in Abu Dhabi?
Every family member 18 and over does; children under 18 do not. The test is repeated at each renewal: every two years on a 2-year family visa, every year for parents on a 1-year visa.
Does a sponsored wife need a pregnancy test?
No. The pregnancy test applies to female domestic workers only. A pregnant wife should simply tell the staff before the chest X-ray so the centre can follow its procedure.
