Emirates ID Status Check (2026): How to Track Your Emirates ID Application Online — By Application Number, Emirates ID Number or the ICP App

An Emirates ID status check takes less than a minute: enter your application number on ICP's free ID Card Status page and it shows where your card is — under process, approved, printed or out for delivery. For a renewal or a replacement you can also search with your Emirates ID number, and if you log in with UAE PASS the UAEICP app shows every application in your name. This guide explains each way to track an Emirates ID, what each status means, how long the card takes, how delivery and collection work, how to check your family members' cards, and what to do when an application is stuck or returned.

🔎 THE SHORT ANSWER
Check your Emirates ID status on ICP's ID Card Status page with your application number.
For a renewal or replacement the Emirates ID number also works. Logged in with UAE PASS, the UAEICP app shows the applications linked to your account. ICP lists 5 days for a renewal or replacement; the card is delivered by courier, with a tracking number sent by SMS. Stuck? Call ICP on 600 522 222.

🔎 How do I check my Emirates ID status online?

The Emirates ID is issued by ICP — the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security — for residents of every emirate, Dubai included. So the status of the card itself is always checked with ICP, even when the residence visa was issued by GDRFA Dubai. There are four ways:

Way to checkWhat you needBest for

🔢 How do I check my Emirates ID status by application number?

1
Find your application number PREPARE
It is on the receipt from the typing centre or Amer centre, in the SMS and email ICP sends after you apply, and in the payment confirmation of an online application. Some channels call it the application reference number.
2
Open ICP's ID Card Status page APPLY
Go to the ICP ID Card Status page. No login is needed.
3
Enter the number and search APPLY
Type the application number, choose "Check Application Status" and complete the security check if one appears.
4
Read the status DONE
The page shows the current stage of the card. Compare it with what each status means below.
💡
Lost the application number? Log in to the UAEICP app with UAE PASS — your applications are listed there — or call ICP on 600 522 222 with your passport details. The number is on the receipt from whoever filed the application; if FamilyVisa.ae filed it, we can look it up for you.

🪪 Can I check my Emirates ID status with my Emirates ID number?

Yes, for a renewal or a replacement. When you renew an expired card or replace a lost, stolen or damaged one, the ICP ID Card Status page also accepts your current Emirates ID number (the 15-digit number starting with 784). A first-time applicant has no Emirates ID number yet and searches with the application number instead.

📱 How do I track my Emirates ID in the UAEICP app?

Download the UAEICP app (App Store or Google Play), log in with UAE PASS and open your applications. The app shows the residence and Emirates ID applications linked to your UAE PASS account, with its stage, and it also holds your digital Emirates ID once the card is issued. The same account works on ICP's smart services website.

🛂 Can I check my Emirates ID status with my passport number?

ICP's ID Card Status page itself searches by application number or Emirates ID number, not by passport. With only your passport details you can still: log in to the UAEICP app with UAE PASS (your applications appear automatically), check the validity of your residence file — see our visa status check guide — or call ICP on 600 522 222, who may be able to find the application from your passport details.

🚦 What does each Emirates ID status mean?

ICP does not publish one official list, and the wording differs slightly between the website, the app and the SMS messages. These are the stages you will see, in order:

iSubmitted / Received — the application and payment reached ICP. Nothing to do yet.
iUnder process — ICP is reviewing it. For a new resident it can wait on the residence approval, the medical result or the biometrics appointment.
✕Returned for modification — something must be corrected (often the photo or a document). Fix it quickly: ICP may cancel the application if it is not corrected within the period stated in its message.
✓Approved / Printed — the card is approved and goes to printing, then to the courier.
✓Out for delivery / Ready for collection — a tracking number arrives by SMS; the card comes to your address or waits at an Emirates Post branch.
✓Delivered / Completed — the card was handed over.
✕Rejected — the application was refused; the message gives the reason. Contact ICP or us before applying again.

Does "under process" mean my Emirates ID is approved?

No. "Under process" only means ICP is still working on it. For a family visa, the card normally moves on once the medical result is fit, the biometrics are taken (from the age of 15) and the residence is issued.

⏱️ How long does an Emirates ID take in the UAE?

How long the Emirates ID takes: about 5 days for a renewal or replacement according to ICP, a 24-hour urgent service for AED 150 (for expatriates, replacements only), an SMS tracking number on dispatch and about 90 days to collect from the branch
Emirates ID processing time and delivery: renewal, urgent service, tracking and collection.

ICP lists 5 days for a renewal or a replacement once the application is complete. In our experience, a replacement is usually ready and delivered in 2 to 3 working days. A new card for a new resident follows the residence: it is printed once the medical, biometrics and residence issuance are done, and then delivered by courier.

ApplicationUsual time
Renewal (with or after the residence renewal)About 5 days (ICP)
Replacement — lost, stolen or damagedAbout 5 days (ICP); usually 2 to 3 working days in practice — see our replacement guide
New card with a new residence visaAfter the residence is issued, then courier delivery
Urgent service at a service centreWithin 24 hours for AED 150 extra — for expatriates, replacements only (u.ae)

🚚 Emirates ID tracking: how is the card delivered?

Standard cards are delivered by ICP's authorised courier. When the card is dispatched, ICP sends a tracking number by SMS; enter it in the Emirates Post website or app under shipment tracking. You can receive the card at your address or collect it from an Emirates Post branch with your application number and your passport.

📍
Keep your phone number and address up to date. A wrong mobile number or address is a common reason for a card that never arrives. Update them with ICP's data update service — for dependents, through the sponsor's account — and collect a card waiting at a branch promptly: uncollected cards are returned to ICP after about 90 days.

Can someone else collect my Emirates ID?

Ask Emirates Post first. Collection normally needs the card holder's passport or the application details, and branches may ask for an authorisation; a parent usually collects a child's card. When we file the application, we can arrange delivery to your home instead.

👪 How do I check my family members' Emirates ID status?

Each family member has his or her own application number. Enter each number on the ICP ID Card Status page, or log in to the UAEICP app with the sponsor's UAE PASS: dependents' data and applications are managed through the sponsor's or head of family's account. For the whole family visa process, see our guides to the spouse visa, the son visa, the daughter visa and the parents visa.

⏳ My Emirates ID is delayed or returned: what should I do?

Most delays have one of five causes. Check them in this order:

1
Photo rejected. ICP needs a good-quality digital photo to ICAO standard: no edits, white background with good contrast, full face visible. For a renewal it must be a new photo, not the one on your current card.
2
Biometrics not done. Applicants aged 15 and above give fingerprints and a signature at a service centre when ICP asks for them; the card waits until then.
3
Medical or residence pending. A new resident's card follows the residence visa, which needs a fit medical result first.
4
Returned for modification. Correct the item ICP names within the period stated in its message, or the application may be cancelled.
5
Wrong contact details. A wrong phone number or address stops the courier — update your data with ICP.

If none of these applies and the status has not moved for more than a week, call ICP on 600 522 222 (+971 600 522 222 from abroad) with your application number, or send it to us and we follow up for you.

Is there a fine if my Emirates ID renewal is late?

Yes. A late Emirates ID renewal costs AED 20 a day after 30 days, up to AED 1,000. Check it with our Emirates ID fine check guide and renew through our Emirates ID renewal service.

📲 Can I use the digital Emirates ID while I wait for the card?

Once your card has been issued, a digital Emirates ID is available in UAE PASS (in your documents) and in the UAEICP app, where it can be shown on screen or saved as a PDF. It is useful while the physical card is still with the courier or being replaced. A first-time applicant usually sees the digital ID only after the card is issued, so it does not replace the status check while the application is under process.
