Nanny Visa Dubai (2026): How to Sponsor a Nanny — Nanny vs Maid Visa, Requirements, Cost, Steps, Contract and Salary

A nanny visa in Dubai is the same domestic-worker visa as a maid visa: the nanny is sponsored either by a Tadbeer centre — about AED 7,000–9,000 for a 2-year visa plus AED 100–150 a month — or on your own visa, which needs a household income above AED 25,000 a month and costs about AED 8,000 for a 1-year visa. Only the job title on the permit changes. This guide explains the difference between a nanny and a maid visa, the sponsor requirements, the cost, the steps, and what the law says about the contract, salary, rest days and leave.

👶 THE SHORT ANSWER
Sponsor a nanny through Tadbeer (AED 7,000–9,000 for 2 years) or on your own visa (income above AED 25,000).
There is no separate nanny visa — a nanny gets the domestic-worker visa with the job title nanny or babysitter. On your own sponsorship it costs about AED 8,000 a year (about AED 15,000 for 2 years on a Golden Visa). With Tadbeer the centre is the sponsor and you pay the salary through it. For most families we recommend Tadbeer.

👶 Is a nanny visa different from a maid visa?

No — it is the same visa. UAE law treats a nanny (babysitter) as one of about 19 domestic-worker categories, together with housemaids, cooks, drivers, private nurses and others. The nanny gets a domestic-worker permit and residence with the job title nanny or babysitter; the sponsor rules, the cost, the medical, the Emirates ID and the insurance are the same as for a housemaid.

Why does the job title matter?

The contract and permit should describe the real job. If you hire a nanny to look after children, put "nanny" or "babysitter" on the contract — it sets clear duties and avoids disputes later.

🧭 What are the two ways to sponsor a nanny in Dubai?

🏢
1. Through a Tadbeer centre
The centre — licensed by MOHRE — is the nanny's sponsor. You pay AED 7,000–9,000 for a 2-year visa, then send her salary to the centre each month with a fee of AED 100–150. No income rule, almost no paperwork, and the centre handles renewal and replacement. Read more in our Tadbeer maid visa guide.
🏠
2. On your own visa
The nanny is on your family file. You need a household income above AED 25,000 a month, more documents, and you renew the visa every year — every 2 years for Golden Visa holders. About AED 8,000 for 1 year.
✅
Our recommendation: Tadbeer. It is the carefree route — no income threshold, no sponsorship file, no yearly renewal — and it usually costs less over two years.

Can I hire a part-time nanny?

Yes, through a Tadbeer centre's flexible package: the nanny stays on the centre's visa and you book her by the hour, day, week or month. You do not sponsor her, so there is no visa cost — you pay for the time.

✅ What are the requirements to sponsor a nanny in Dubai?

Nanny visa requirements in Dubai: the sponsor needs a valid residence and a household income above AED 25,000 or uses Tadbeer, the nanny must be 18 or over and medically fit, with a MOHRE contract and health insurance
Nanny visa requirements: sponsor, nanny and contract — or skip the income rule through Tadbeer.

What does the sponsor need?

✓Income: household income — husband and wife together — above AED 25,000 a month for own sponsorship. Not needed with Tadbeer.
✓Residence: a valid UAE residence visa (or UAE nationality) and a home in the UAE where the nanny lives.
✓Golden Visa holders: can sponsor a nanny for 2 years at a time on their own file.
iSame nationality: a no-relationship certificate from your embassy if the nanny has your nationality.

What does the nanny need?

✓Age: 18 or over — the law does not allow recruiting domestic workers under 18.
✓Passport: valid, with a recent photo on a white background.
✓Medical fitness: the residence medical test after arrival or change of status.
✓Health insurance: mandatory for every domestic worker since 1 January 2025.

Can a single parent sponsor a nanny?

Usually yes, if the parent meets the income rule on his or her own, or by using Tadbeer, where the centre is the sponsor. The final decision is with MOHRE and GDRFA, so message us with your details first.

📂 What documents do I need for a nanny visa?

1
Sponsor and spouse: passports, residence visas and Emirates IDs; the attested marriage certificate.
2
Income proof: salary certificates showing more than AED 25,000 a month together, and bank statements.
3
Home: tenancy contract (Ejari) or title deed and a recent utility bill.
4
The nanny: passport copy and photo; medical, insurance and Emirates ID come later.
5
Same nationality: the embassy's no-relationship certificate.

With Tadbeer the list is much shorter — mainly your Emirates ID and address; the centre prepares the nanny's file.

💰 How much does a nanny visa cost in Dubai?

Nanny visa Dubai cost: about AED 7,000–9,000 for 2 years through Tadbeer, or about AED 8,000 for 1 year on your own sponsorship. Golden Visa holders pay about AED 15,000 for a 2-year own visa. These are visa costs before the nanny's salary, flight and any recruitment fee.

Nanny visa cost in Dubai compared: AED 7,000–9,000 for 2 years plus AED 100–150 a month through Tadbeer, about AED 8,000 a year on your own sponsorship and about AED 15,000 for 2 years for Golden Visa holders

Is a nanny visa more expensive than a maid visa?

No. The visa cost is the same. What can be higher is the salary: nannies with childcare experience or training often ask for more than a general housemaid.

🪜 How do I sponsor a nanny in Dubai? Step by step

On your own sponsorship the steps are:

1
Check eligibility PREPARE
Household income above AED 25,000, valid residence, a home in the UAE; the no-relationship certificate if the nanny has your nationality.
2
Work permit and entry permit APPLY
MOHRE issues the domestic-worker permit; in Dubai the entry permit or change of status, medical and residence follow on the government platforms or at an Amer centre.
3
Health insurance APPLY
Buy the mandatory domestic-worker health insurance before the residence is issued.
4
Medical, Emirates ID and residence IN THE UAE
After arrival or change of status, the nanny takes the medical test, gives biometrics and receives her residence and Emirates ID.
5
Sign the contract DONE
Sign the MOHRE standard contract and pay her salary through the Wage Protection System every month.

What are the steps with Tadbeer?

Choose a centre and a nanny, sign the package and pay AED 7,000–9,000; the centre does the permit, medical, Emirates ID and insurance under its own name. You then pay the salary and the AED 100–150 fee to the centre every month.

📝 What must a nanny's contract and salary include?

Every domestic worker, nanny included, signs the MOHRE standard contract. Under Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2022:

✓Salary on time — within 10 days of the due date, through the Wage Protection System (WPS).
✓Rest — one paid day off a week and at least 12 hours' rest a day, 8 of them in a row.
✓Annual leave — at least 30 days' paid leave a year and a return ticket home every 2 years.
✓Sick leave — up to 30 days a year with a medical report; the first 15 days fully paid.
✓Probation — up to 6 months, with replacement or refund rules if a recruitment agency was used.
iDocuments — the nanny keeps her own passport and Emirates ID.

How much is a nanny's salary in Dubai?

There is no single legal minimum salary for domestic workers in the UAE; the salary is agreed in the contract. It depends on the nanny's nationality, experience, training and duties. Some embassies set a minimum salary for their own nationals, so check it before you agree a figure — the Tadbeer centre or we can tell you the usual range.

Who pays the nanny's flight and medical costs?

The employer. You pay the government and recruitment fees, the health insurance and medical treatment, the return ticket for annual leave every 2 years, and the ticket home when the contract ends.

🔄 Can I hire a nanny who is already in the UAE?

Yes, if she is free to move. Her current sponsor — a family or a Tadbeer centre — must cancel or release her first. Then you sponsor her inside the country with a change of status, without her leaving the UAE. Ask to see the cancellation before you start. If she is on a visit visa, she cannot work for you until her domestic-worker visa is issued.

Can a nanny work on her husband's family visa?

Not without the right permit. A woman on a family visa cannot simply start working in your home; she needs a valid work permit for the job. Message us with her visa details and we will tell you what is possible.

⚠️
Never employ a nanny without a valid domestic-worker visa. Employing a worker without the right permit can lead to fines from AED 5,000 for the family.

🚫 What are the most common nanny visa mistakes?

✕Hiring on a visit visa. The nanny cannot work until her domestic-worker visa is issued.
✕Wrong job title. Put "nanny" or "babysitter" on the contract if she looks after children.
✕Paying cash without a record. Use WPS (or the Tadbeer centre) so every salary payment is on record.
✕Skipping insurance. Health insurance is mandatory and needed for the residence.
