Family Visa for Investors and Partners in Dubai (2026): Requirements, Documents and Full Cost

If you hold a UAE investor or partner visa — you own a share in a UAE company — you can sponsor your spouse and children on a family (dependent) visa. The steps are the same as for employees; what changes is the eligibility rule, two company documents and slightly higher government fees. Sponsoring on a salary as an employee? See how to get a family visa in Dubai.

In short: as per your company's Memorandum of Association (MOA), your share in the capital must be more than AED 75,000 — the salary rule does not apply. Add the company's trade licence and MOA to the usual documents. Government fees are AED 2,814 per adult and AED 2,541 per child inside the UAE, or AED 1,489 and AED 1,216 from outside, plus AED 203 once. A Dubai family visa needs no Ejari and no medical insurance.

Family visa for investors and partners in Dubai — sponsor your spouse and children through your company

✅ 1. Who can sponsor: investors and partners

You can sponsor your family on the investor and partner route when you hold a UAE investor or partner visa through your company and your share in the company is large enough:

📊

Your share in the company

AED 75,000+
share capital, as per the MOA
Your own share in the company's capital must be more than AED 75,000, as written in the Memorandum of Association.
🔁 Family residence visas for a spouse and children are generally issued for two years and renewed before expiry.
💼

No salary rule

The AED 4,000 salary rule (or AED 3,000 with company accommodation) is for employees. As an investor or partner, you qualify through your share in the company instead.
💡
Example: if the MOA shows your share as AED 100,000, you can sponsor your family. A share of AED 50,000 is below the AED 75,000 minimum.

📄 2. Documents required

The sponsor (investor or partner) provides:

  1. 1Passport copy
  2. 2UAE residence visa copy (investor or partner visa)
  3. 3Emirates ID copy
  4. 4Trade licence of the company
  5. 5Memorandum of Association (MOA) showing your share over AED 75,000

For each family member:

  1. 1Passport copy
  2. 2Passport-size photograph
  3. 3Attested relationship certificate — marriage certificate for a spouse, birth certificate for a child

Attestation: minimum 4 steps

The marriage or birth certificate needs at least four attestations, in this order — GDRFA accepts it only with the final UAE MOFA stamp:

1Notary→2Foreign Ministry→3UAE Embassy→4UAE MOFA

Some countries add extra local steps before the Foreign Ministry. Our certificate attestation service can handle the whole chain for you.

📝 3. The process — the same steps as for employees

1Entry permit application→2Entry permit issued→3Enter UAE or change status→4Medical fitness (18+)→5Emirates ID application→6Biometrics (15+, if required)→7Residence visa application→8Digital visa issued→9Emirates ID delivery

You have 60 days to enter the UAE once the entry permit is issued, then 60 days to finish the residence visa. Medical fitness is only for applicants aged 18 and above. Each step is explained in how to get a family visa in Dubai — step by step.

🖐️
Biometrics: required only for applicants aged 15 and above — and only for first-timers whose biometrics have not been collected before.

💰 4. Investor family visa cost 2026: full fee breakdown (inside vs outside the UAE)

For investors and partners, a new Dubai family visa costs AED 2,814 per adult and AED 2,541 per child when the family member is already inside the UAE, or AED 1,489 per adult and AED 1,216 per child when they are outside the UAE — plus a one-time AED 203 family file opening fee. These are the government fees, item by item, as calculated by the FamilyVisa.ae Visa Calculator on 6 October 2026:

🇦🇪 Inside the UAE (change of status): AED 2,814 per adult, AED 2,541 per child

What makes the difference:

  • Inside the UAE costs AED 1,325 more per person: the entry permit issued inside the UAE is AED 1,102 instead of AED 452, and the change of status adds AED 675.
  • Children cost AED 273 less: no medical fitness test below 18.
  • VIP medical: AED 703 instead of AED 273 (AED 430 more per adult) for a result in about 30 minutes.
  • Compared with an employee's family visa: AED 158 more per adult inside the UAE (AED 2,814 vs AED 2,656) and AED 113 more from outside (AED 1,489 vs AED 1,376).

Renewing instead? No entry permit and no change of status: AED 1,037 per adult, AED 764 per child — the same for employees, investors and partners. Family visa renewal guide →

🏥 5. No medical insurance, no Ejari (Dubai)

For a Dubai family visa, medical insurance is not required and no Ejari or tenancy contract is required. In other emirates, both are mandatory for the visa.

🚩
Some agencies bundle an insurance policy with the visa because they earn a commission on it. Health cover is a sensible personal choice for living in Dubai — but it is not a condition of a Dubai dependent visa.

❓ Frequently asked questions

No. For a Dubai family visa, medical insurance and an Ejari or tenancy contract are not required. In other emirates, both are mandatory for the visa.
