Always go by the date. UAE rules and government fees change over time. We keep earlier answers for reference rather than deleting them, so if two answers seem to differ, the one with the most recent “Updated” date is the current one.
What types of POA are there in the UAE?
General POAs grant broad authority over your affairs; special POAs cover one defined act — selling a property, buying or selling a vehicle, court representation or company matters. Property transactions almost always require a special POA naming the property.

How much does a power of attorney cost in Dubai?
Dubai Courts notary fees for personal POAs are tiered by validity — roughly AED 100 to 300 for one to three years — plus drafting and translation. Private notaries charge per signature under the regulated 2026 fee schedule. We quote a fixed all-in price including bilingual drafting.

Can I sign a POA without visiting the notary?
Yes — Dubai Courts offers remote video notarisation: your identity is verified on a video call, you sign digitally, and the POA is issued electronically. We prepare the bilingual draft and book the session for you.

I'm outside the UAE — how do I give someone POA in Dubai?
Either sign before a notary in your country and attest it through your foreign ministry, the UAE Embassy there and MOFAIC, followed by legal Arabic translation — or, in many cases, use Dubai Courts' remote video notarisation from abroad, which is much faster. We advise which route suits your country.

Does my POA need to be in Arabic?
Yes — documents notarised in the UAE must be in Arabic or bilingual Arabic-English, which is the standard we draft. Foreign POAs in other languages need certified legal translation.

How long does a POA stay valid?
As stated in the document — typically one to three years for general POAs. For Dubai property, a POA to sell is treated as valid for 2 years from notarisation under DLD rules, while purchase POAs can run up to 5 years. Any POA ends on the principal's death or on revocation.

What are the new DLD rules for property POAs?
Since the 2025 DLD circular, property POAs are verified electronically, must use transaction-specific wording — including the title deed number for sales — and sale-proceeds cheques must be issued in the owner's name, not the attorney's, unless explicitly authorised.

How do I cancel a POA?
By executing a notarised revocation through the notary (or online), quoting the original POA details, then notifying the agent and any relevant bodies — DLD for property POAs, banks for banking ones. We handle revocations end to end.

Can my attorney receive the sale money on my behalf?
By default no — manager's cheques must be in the property owner's name as it appears on the title deed. The attorney can only receive funds if the POA and sale agreement explicitly authorise it, and banks and trustee offices check this closely.

What do I need to issue a POA?
Your passport or Emirates ID details and the agent's, plus the specifics of what is being authorised — for property, the title deed details. We can draft the bilingual text the same day for your review.
